In 1989, Bruce Rothwell started Barbaras Development, the parent company of both DirecSource and DirecTex. In what started as a home based business, the company had its origin in the metal hardware business under the trade name Wirewright. Wirewright quickly became a leader in the metal hardware, and consequentially the plastic hardware, business. Early on, Bruce recognized that building a product to a highly established standard is what Barbaras customers desired and deserved. The ability to establish, implement and perform to these standards are exactly what sets the company apart from its competitors to this day. Bruce discovered, early on, that the gap in most outsourced relationships was, in fact, the detailed execution of highly developed product specification and quality requirement standards.
Over the years, as line offerings continued to expand, Barbaras became one of the largest suppliers of textile raw materials in the industry. As capacities, capabilities and customer demands continued to grow, the company eventually built its own Quality Laboratory and an advanced AQL quality testing system.
Utilizing our internal Product Specification System, Quality Requirement and Quality Control disciplines, Barbaras entered into the contract manufacturing business under the name of DirecSource. DirecSource is primarily focused on Consumer Products and has, for many of our clients, assumed the role of their manufacturing and logistics departments.
At DirecSource, our high level systems, structure, and attention to detail has allowed us to prosper and compete directly with most factories as a manufacturing resource. DirecSource currently has resources for manufacturing and logistics available in China, Vietnam and Mexico as well as the USA. We pride ourselves for having been successful in OEM, ODM, JDM and Private Label manufacturing.
Bruce Rothwell is the Founder of Direcsource. With his family’s roots firmly originating in the textile and manufacturing industries, Bruce recognized, early on, that what his customers most consistently lacked, and needed most, was manufacturing standards for their products. Without the proper resources to execute a precise, quality engineered and controlled manufacturing process, many of the companies Bruce met were left to dedicate large amounts of their valuable cash and manpower toward overseeing this component of their business. Bruce understood that if he could build this resource for his clients, in turn, they would have the freedom and ability to remain focused on the more important drivers of growing their businesses: Sales, marketing, consumer engagement and finance. With over 30 years of experience, Bruce’s connectivity into the world of contract manufacturing and sourcing, along with DirecSource’s ability to warehouse and inventory on behalf of their clients, has made his company one of the most successful, privately-owned businesses in the industry.
